Welcome to the June rewind, Reader!
I sat down to write this recap and drew a complete blank.
Like, genuinely. June. What did I even do in June? I stared at the cursor for a solid minute and came up with nothing. It felt like a quiet month. Chill, even.
So I did the thing I do with everything now... I asked Claude. "Hey, what did I actually do this month?"
And Claude came back with a list. A long one.
〰️ The month I forgot I had
- I co-hosted a webinar with Stephanie Kase on the complete Claude setup behind my business.
- I flew to Boise for Kit's Craft + Commerce conference.
- I ran another webinar with my friend Jordan Gill all about the Kit MCP, which I'd been beta testing for six weeks.
- I taught a session inside Social Media Examiner's AI Society.
- I hosted my monthly Q&A call for AI All Stars, where we went deep on MCPs, connectors, and using Notion as the hub that holds everything together.
- I recorded a podcast interview.
- I built out 14 new skills and a huuuuuge update to AI All Stars (more coming on that later in July).
- I did a photoshoot with a new-to-me local photographer in a gorgeous studio. Yes, I know AI can do fake photoshoots now. No, I don't want to go that route.
And I'm reading this list going... wait. That's a lot. That's actually a really full month.
〰️ Busy didn't feel like drowning
Here's what got me. Not one second of that felt overwhelming.
I've had busy months that felt like drowning. Where every day was a fire and I went to bed wired and woke up behind.
June wasn't that. June was busy and genuinely fun. I showed up to things, taught stuff I love teaching, hung out with people I like, and somehow the wheels kept turning underneath all of it without me white-knuckling anything.
When your business actually runs on systems, when your team members (the AI ones and the human ones) are doing their jobs, busy stops feeling like panic. It just feels like a full, good life, without costing you your nervous system.
I didn't remember June because I didn't have to white-knuckle June. The systems remembered it for me.
〰️ Home base
Now, the part that actually made June feel full. Home.
It was the last month of school for my kids, which if you have kids you know is its own kind of chaos.
End-of-year plays. Class parties. Concerts. The endless little events that all land in the same three weeks.
We also somehow had more sleepovers this month than we've ever had. The house was loud in the best way.

Oh, and we hatched chickens. In the living room.
(yes, actually)
We got fertilized eggs from a local farmer, set up an incubator, and waited 21 days. And then 5 chicks hatched. Right there in front of our eyes.
The kids were absolutely glued to it, watching, naming them (Peep, Dotty, Bloom, Moose, and Molly!), checking on them constantly.
The chicks are about to head back to the farm to become proper egg-laying hens, and I'm a little sad about it. It was the kind of slow, hands-on, completely-off-the-internet family project that I want more of.

And one more, because I can't not brag.
My daughter started babysitting this month. And she's already getting rave reviews from the first few families she's worked for.
But here's my favorite part. One of the dads told me how impressed he was that when they asked her hourly rate, she just... said it. Most kids freeze and mumble "whatever you think is fair." Not mine. She gave her rate, clear as day. And then added $1 per kid.
I about fell over. The little entrepreneur is in there and she is negotiating. I guess I've rubbed off on her.
